LeGarrette Blount

Here is a guy who has floated around the league but has always found a way to perform. Many thought LeGarrette Blount was a flash in the pan after falling off with the Buccaneers. He turned things around with the Patriots, a brief stint in Pittsburgh and last year with the Eagles. He now brings his talents to Detroit to take the pressure off of Matthew Stafford with the Lions.

Blount has not often been the 250+ carry rusher but when he has, those seasons have been dominant. His rookie season with Tampa Bay resulted in 1,007 yards, six touchdowns and a five yards per carry average. In 2016 with the Patriots he led the league in touchdowns with 18 and rushed for 1,161 yards. Blount is a guy that is a tough between the tackles runner as well as one with surprising speed.

The six times Blount has faced the Jets in the past, he has only carried the ball a bit over seven times per game. Much of that can be attributed to the fact that Tom Brady would unleash aerial assaults on the team every time they faced off. That does not mean the Jets should sleep on LeGarrette Blount. Look for him to carry the rock more often with the Lions, and the defensive line is young. This will be an intriguing matchup to watch when these two teams do battle.
