It has come and it has passed, the day we have been waiting for since April has come and the Knicks have made their pick. With the ninth pick in the 2018 NBA Draft the New York Knicks have selected former Kentucky Wildcat Kevin Knox!

The New York Knicks went with a player who fulfills their Small Forward hole in Kevin Knox who is an all-around player. He can do anything from shooting to crashing the boards, as he proved in his lone season at Kentucky.

Under John Calipari last season Kevin Knox went for 15.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game. Kevin Knox is a fantastic player who will help the Knicks get back to the playoffs as soon as possible. A combo of him and Kristaps Porzingis is a dangerous one.

But the question is, why Knox over Mikal Bridges and Michael Porter Jr.?

With Porter Jr. and Bridges still on the board it baffled many, including myself why the Knicks would take the former Kentucky Wildcat instead of those other two. We were all lead to believe that if either Mikal Bridges or Michael Porter jr. were still on the board when they were on the clock they would take either of them.

It makes some sense why the Knicks would pass on Michael Porter Jr. with his health concerns but he has the potential to be the best player out of this draft. Bridges is much more questionable as he proved a lot more this previous season as he lead his team as a team captain to a National Championship.

Instead we were all surprised with a Kevin Knox selection, but it is a good selection none-the-less. Knox brings a skill-set that not many others possess, which is the ability to do everything and play anywhere.

While you may not be happy with the selection of Knox over Bridges and Porter, keep your hopes up for Knox because he has the ability to surprise you in ways you would not expect.
