The New York Rangers are a team who has been around for a while but little to show for it. Their fans are so loyal so they remember all the best players. However, few are as good as Henrik Lundqvist.

Henrik Lundqvist is one of the best goalies in the history of the NHL. This seems like a very bold statement but it is true.

He does not have all the accolades and personal accomplishments as other goalies do, but he has fully embraced the New York market and has done it right for a long time.

That is why it is a shame he has never brought a Cup to New York City. He has carried the New York Rangers very far into the playoff plenty of times so I’m not blaming him but he is a great athlete who has never won a championship here.

“Hank” as he is often called is still bringing it and will either be part of a rebuild or as a player or get traded to help be a part of it. Either way, he is all New York Rangers.

The Rangers have been around for so long. They are almost always good. The Garden is electric in the winter months partly due to the blue shirts.

But Hank is a great player and has been for a while. The Rangers have had runs to their conference final on his hot hand. This includes a birth to the Stanley Cup final in 2014.

Although Hank is still playing, it is not like the other players on this list. The Rangers are in a rebuild and are looking deep into the future. Lundqvist cannot go forever but might be the only familiar face for another few years.

One day, his number will easily be hanging in the rafters of Madison Square Garden, it’s just a shame there might never be a championship banner to go with it.

I would even argue that Henrik Lundqvist is the best New York Ranger of all-time.  Let alone the best to never bring home the ultimate prize to the ultimate city.

Honorable mention is Ron Duguay.

Up next, we tackle the other team that plays in the garden.
