It is almost unfair to include David Villa on this list because his club, NYCFC, has only been a team since 2015. However, David Villa is a World Class athlete let alone a star in New York.

The NYCFC star has won all over the world. He helped lead Spain to a World Cup victory in 2010. That is the biggest championship to win on the planet.

Since NYCFC has not been around long at all, it seems unfair to include them, or Villa on this list. But, since we cover New York’s blue soccer team someone has to make the cut.

David Villa might not be the top guy in terms of play for NYCFC right now but he is still the face of the franchise.

He is the biggest name for soccer in the city. Since New York City got a second team he has been there guy.

It is crazy to say he is the best to never win a championship in New York considering all he has accomplished but it is a fact.

Let’s not forget their home games are played in Yankee Stadium, that place is built for championship moments.

NYCFC has a great squad this season too so we could remove Villa’s name from this soon. NYCFC is not “just another expansion club” they are coming on strong in their early seasons of existence.

Eventually bringing New York City an MLS Cup trophy is the last thing Villa needs to accomplish in his career.

He is the best player on NYCFC, overall, will ever have. He is an outstanding soccer player and winning here, seems little to what he has done.

But, nonetheless, he is the best player in NYCFC’s young history to never bring NYC a championship.

No honorable mention.

Let’s jump to hockey and back to New Jersey with the Devils.
