The New York Red Bulls are an original MLS team. Since starting as the Metro Stars to now, no one on this club has ever won a title. Not even Bradley Wright-Phillips.

Take this one with a grain of salt because Bradley Wright-Phillips is still an active player and could easily win the MLS Cup, the ultimate prize in MLS, this year.

The New York Red Bulls are off to a great start this year. The league is also still growing but Bradley Wright-Phillips is, in my eyes, the best Red Bulls/Metro Stars player of all time.

Since the clubs and leagues inception in 1996, when the Red Bulls were known as the New Jersey Metro Stars, the team has had some successful seasons, but no championships.

But since 2013, “BWP” as we will call him, has been scoring goals like a madman. When it is all said and done BWP might even end his career as the all-time goal leader in MLS history.

Since the Red Bulls’ rebrand in 2006, BWP is far and away their best player. With the MLS still growing and considered a “retirement league” by some still, tenures for an MLS club do not typically last very long.

However, BWP has been on New York’s red side for years now. He is one of the longest- tenured athletes in New York in general.

The Red Bulls may not have ever won a cup trophy so every player ever is eligible for this honor. However, BWP is at the top of this lists as best to never win a championship in New York, for now.

Even though the Red Bulls technically play in New Jersey, they are a New York team.

Also, hopefully, we can remove him from this list because he truly is one of the best athletes in the New York city market right now.

An honorable mention is Thierry Henry.

Let’s jump across the Hudson River to New York City’s other soccer team.
