New York Knicks: Oklahoma’s Trae Young to workout for the team

Oklahoma point guard Trae Young will workout for the New York Knicks on Tuesday and the Knicks need to draft him.

Oklahoma point guard Trae Young is heading to New York. According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, Young will work out for the Knicks in Tarrytown on Tuesday. Young is not working out for many other teams.

This will be Young’s first individual workout. However, he has been training since March. Young posted a message on Instagram saying that he’s on his way to NYC. He could meet with the Knicks as soon as Monday.

While the Knicks obviously are interested in Young, they aren’t the only ones that want to grab him. The guard does have a few other workouts scheduled.

“The thing about the Knicks is it’s a perfect spot,” John McKelvey, a sportswriter for the Norman Transcript said. “[Young] loves the spotlight, always wants the spotlight. He doesn’t turn down an interview. He likes people talking about him.”

The Knicks have the ninth pick in the upcoming NBA draft. The latest ESPN.com mock draft has Young going to the Chicago Bulls, who have the sixth pick. Their mock then has the Knicks going with Alabama guard, Collin Sexton. However, Young believes that he’s the best player in this year’s draft.

“I think I’m the best overall player in this draft,” he told ESPN’s Nick Friedell. “My main focus isn’t necessarily to be the best player in this draft. My focus is to be the best player in the NBA. That’s what I’m focusing on each and every day.”

Young might be the best player in the draft and is well on his way to becoming the best player in the NBA. Last season he averaged 27. 4 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 8.7 assists, and led the nation in scoring and assists.

Empire Writes Back co-expert John Carrol Jr. says that Young has the potential to be like Steph Curry. I agree that Young has the same type of potential.

Next: Trae Young would be great pick for Knicks

The Knicks need Young. They are trying to build a team around Kristaps Porzingis and could use a star like Young. So, if the Knicks don’t draft Young, then they will continue to struggle and the rebuilding will take even longer.
