Wide Receiver: Wayne Chrebet

To make this team successful we need two types of wide receivers. The first is a reliable possession receiver. Who would be better in that role than Wayne Chrebet? To watch him play was to love him. Whenever a play was needed, number 80 was the one to call. He gave of his body for the team and was automatic when third down came up.

How automatic was he? Well, he caught 200 passes on third down in his career and converted 149 of those receptions for first downs. Everyone knows his story, joining the Jets out of Hofstra as an undrafted free agent. He walked into camp and made his way up the depth chart with hard work. The result was becoming one of the most beloved players in franchise history.

Chrebet represented the hard-working, blue-collar worker that many Jets fans are. He was the type of player that the fan base could relate to. That and his stats speak for themselves. He’s third in team history in receiving yards (7,365) and second in receptions (580). He was the hardest working guy in the room, the ultimate underdog and one of the top players in franchise history. Put him out there.
