Here are three free safeties that would upgrade the New York Giants defensive backfield.

The New York Giants did a great job addressing some major needs last month during the 2018 NFL Draft, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Yet, there’s still plenty of work to be done. There are still some holes on defense that need to be addressed and, outside of middle linebacker, safety is probably the biggest need the Giants still should address.

Landon Collins has done more than enough to prove he’s one of the league’s best, earning First-Team All-Pro honors and two Pro Bowl selections three years into his career. However, finding a quality free safety to pair with him has been an issue for a while now.

Granted, the jury’s still out on whether or not Darian Thompson can stick at free safety and it may be an overreaction to give up on a young player just two years into their career. Yet, there’s a solid chance that general manager Dave Gettleman may want to cut ties with a few more Jerry Reese holdovers on the roster.

Even if the Giants completely believe that Thompson can be a quality starter going forward, the team could still use some quality veteran depth at the position. Let’s be honest here, having the likes of Michael Thomas, Andrew Adams, Ryan Murphy and Tim Scott as the next men up doesn’t exactly inspire much confidence in most Giants fans.

Surprisingly, the free agent market is still ripe with talented safeties at this point in the offseason and the Giants would be out of their minds not to sign at least one of the following three for the 2018 season.
