Week Seventeen: at New England Patriots

The final game of the season is the final installment of “Patriots Week”. The yearly battle with the archrivals moves to New England to close the 2018 campaign. Tom Brady vs. Sam Darnold, round two. Jets fans best hope will be that the Patriots have nothing to play for in this one. We know how tough these guys are.

Let’s get to the point. The Jets don’t win this one. I believe they play a bit better than they did in the first game, at least Darnold does. After nearly a full season he has learned a lot to take with him into 2019 and beyond. New England does not route the Jets here, but in the end, they are just too much for New York to handle.

RESULT: LOSS

That puts the record for the year at 6-10 but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It will be successful because of the improvement we will see from Darnold. The defense will look vastly better, especially the secondary. The Jets will have money to stack the team around Darnold in the offseason, and they really aren’t expected to be a playoff team in 2018.

6-10 but with many great signs for the future.
