Starting on Tuesday, the New York Yankees and Washington Nationals will square off in a series that will put two of the three most recent NL MVPs against each other.

On Tuesday night, the New York Yankees and Washington Nationals will square off in Washington DC for game one of a two-game set which has all of the baseball world buzzing. The Yankees have been phenomenal lately, and after a slow start, the Nationals seem to have found their footing. With that, the stage is set for a phenomenal two-game series between two of the best teams in baseball.

In their last 20 games, the Yankees are 17-3, boasting one of the best 20-game stretches of any team this season. The Nationals, on the other hand, are 14-6 which is up considerably from their lousy start. The Yankees sit atop the AL East while the Nationals are in third place in the NL East, although they are quickly gaining on the Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves.

This series is not only intriguing because of how good the teams are, but it is also because of a few individual players. This series puts two of the three most recent NL MVPs against each other in Bryce Harper (2015 NL MVP) and Giancarlo Stanton (2017 NL MVP).

This is something that we used to see quite often considering they used to be in the same division, but now that Stanton is in pinstripes, it happens much less often. Not only that, but this could be one of the last times we ever see the two play against each other considering the rumors we’ve heard surrounding Bryce Harper lately.

This series is quite an intriguing one, so let’s dive into the pitching matchups and my predictions for the two games between the Yankees and Nationals.
