Week Eight: at Chicago Bears

The Jets take a trip to the Windy City to finish this second quarter of the 2018 season. The Bears are interesting in that they represent what the Jets may be in 2019. They have their quarterback in Mitch Trubisky, and he is in his second year. He is looking to take that step forward in his second year, the way the Jets will be expecting Sam Darnold to be in 2019.

Trubisky got better as the season went along. In his last four starts he completed 65.6% of his passes. Wouldn’t we be happy if Darnold puts up numbers like that? Clearly he is ready to take the next step. As far as weapons go, the Bears have added Allen Robinson to the mix and drafted Anthony Miller. Don’t count out Taylor Gabriel or Trey Burton either. The Bears have the goods.

Next: Grading the Jets draft class

To keep the offense balanced, the Bears have the tandem of Jordan Howard and Tarik Cohen. Here is the bottom line, the Bears and the Jets are similar but the Bears are further along with the process. Especially at Soldier Field, the Bears are going to be too much for the Jets and they win this one going away. New York hits the halfway point with a 3-5 record.
