Lukas Denis, Safety, Boston College

I don’t consider this one a stretch in any sense of the word, especially when you look at New York’s 2019 financial situation. All-Pro safety Landon Collins’s contract comes off the books at the end of the 2018 season and he may command too much money for the Giants to keep.

In the likelihood that Collins decides to walk, the Giants will have a massive hole at safety that would need to be filled. Even if Collins decides to stay a Giant, New York could still use an upgrade at the other safety spot.

He may only have one year of production under his belt, but Lukas Denis looks like a star in the making. An intelligent safety with excellent ball skills and sideline-to-sideline range, the rising senior led the nation with seven interceptions and 185 interception return yards during the 2017 season. He also finished third on his team in tackles last year, recording a respectable 83 stops from the safety position.

Another year of solid production under his belt would definitely cement Denis’s possible first-round draft status, but as it stands now, the Boston College product still has all the tools to be the great safety the Giants will need.
