The New York Knicks season is over and we must look toward the next time they will be in action — the 2018 NBA Draft on June 21.

The NBA Playoffs are going on as we speak, but what about the other 14 teams who failed to make the playoffs? What are they doing? They’re focusing on the NBA Draft. They’re gathering information and trying to figure out who they want to take in an attempt to make the playoffs next season. The New York Knicks are one of those teams who failed to make the playoffs and are now focusing on the draft. The problem is they still don’t know where they will pick. They have a general idea but they do not know for sure where they will pick.

Until the NBA Draft Lottery, we will not know what pick the Knicks will have but we do have a general idea. The Knicks finished 11th in the Eastern Conference and 22nd overall. They finished better than eight teams which means they will most likely be picking in the 7-10 range for the first round.

For the means of this mock draft, we will give the Knicks the ninth pick in the first round since they finished ninth worst in the league in 2017-18. In the second round, the Knicks have the 37th overall pick.

With it being rather obvious who will be taken off the board in the top five, we are given a general idea of who will be available when the Knicks are on the clock. Kristaps Porzingis, despite recovering from a torn ACL, is a building block for the future. Last year’s first-round pick, Frank Ntilikina, is another one. Trey Burke showed a lot of promise this year and Enes Kanter could be a part of New York’s future if he doesn’t opt out of his contract. Outside of those four, the Knicks will be looking to add talent just about anywhere.

Here’s our first New York Knicks mock draft:
