Darryl Strawberry was undoubtedly the best right fielder in the history of the team. Self-destructive behavior cost the Mets a shot at more World Series titles, and him a shot at a bust in Cooperstown. That said, there’s no way to keep Strawberry out of this outfield.

Strawberry had a cannon for an arm, much like Cespedes and Beltran. The combination of these three in the outfield will help the pitchers on the all-time team keep runs off the board. Of the three, though, there’s no doubt that Straw has the best arm (probably in the history of the franchise in the outfield).

He came up to the big leagues with a lot of hype, and his play matched the hype. He began his major league career by hitting .257/.336/.512 with 26 home runs and 74 RBI and winning Rookie of the Year.

In eight seasons with the Mets, he slugged over .500 six times — including leading the NL in 1988 — and he had 25 or more home runs in each of his eight seasons in Queens. He won a World Series title with the Mets in 1986. He’s a must start to keep runs off the board on defense and score runs on offense.
