New York Yankees: Creating an all-time starting lineup
The Hall of Famer spent most of his career with the hated Red Sox. He was on the field when Bill Buckner made the infamous error that cost the Red Sox Game 6 and would propel the Mets to the World Series title. In 1993, Wade Boggs was signed by the New York Yankees as a free agent after the Yankees added an extra season to their offer that the Dodgers didn’t — signing him for three years as opposed to two.
Boggs would continue to be a fan favorite in the Bronx, as he was in Boston. He would start for the American League in the All-Star Game for each of his first four seasons — making the All-Star Game an amazing 12 consecutive times.
Since Alex Rodriguez is playing shortstop for this team, Wade Boggs gets the nod at third base. His .973 fielding percentage is one of the best in the history of the Yankees. His slash line with the Yankees wasn’t too shabby either. Boggs hit .313/.396/.407 while in pinstripes. He was masterful at making contact and moving runners along, which makes him the perfect hitter for the seven hole in this lineup of guys who will get on base. He’s the best all-around third baseman in team history.
