New York Giants 2018 Undrafted Free Agent Tracker
By Sean Dyer
The 2018 NFL Draft is over, but there are more moves for teams to make. Here’s our New York Giants undrafted free agent tracker.
Most fans watch the first round of the NFL Draft. Some will follow along for all seven rounds. But it’s the true die-hard fans who keep tabs on the undrafted free agents signed by their teams. For those who fall into that final category, keep it here as we update which undrafted free agents sign with the New York Giants.
Undrafted free agents are not to be overlooked. Plenty of undrafted free agents have gone on to have successful NFL careers. Warren Moon, Kurt Warner, and London Fletcher are some of the best to ever take that path to the pros.
Finding talented after the draft was actually one of Jerry Reese’s strengths. Victor Cruz is the famous UDFA in Giants history. After going undrafted out of UMass, Cruz became a Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion. Jake Ballard won a Super Bowl with Big Blue and Chase Blackburn has two rings after failing to hear his name called on draft day.
On the current New York Giants roster, Mark Herzlich went undrafted and has carved out a successful NFL career as a core special teams player and reserve linebacker. Andrew Adams has been a quality reserve safety who filled in nicely when Darian Thompson was injured in 2016. Chad Wheeler went undrafted just last year and ended up starting five games in 2017. With Ereck Flowers a no-show at OTAs thus far, Wheeler has been lining up as Big Blue’s starting right tackle.
The most successful UDFA on the current New York Giants roster is hands down Damon Harrison. “Snacks” has yet to be named to a Pro Bowl but is the undisputed top run defender in the NFL and has been for the last four years.
