6. Maurice Hurst, DL, Michigan

Along with adding edge rushers, the Giants need more defensive line depth for their transition to the 3-4 scheme. Damon Harrison and Dalvin Tomlinson will be run stuffers in the middle, but Big Blue needs a pass rushing three-technique. Maurice Hurst is the best pass rushing interior defensive lineman in this class and may have only dropped out of the first round because of a heart condition with which he’s already been cleared to play.

7. Isaiah Oliver, CB, Colorado

If the Giants are looking for a cornerback and Josh Jackson doesn’t do it for them, they could at Isaiah Oliver. Oliver has great speed and length with the potential to be a No. 1 corner. He’s a freak athlete who is just scratching the surface. He could definitely fit in opposite Janoris Jenkins.

8. James Daniels, C, Iowa

Another interior offensive line option is James Daniels. Some few Daniels as the top center in the draft and thought he would be a first-round pick. Instead, he falls to the second where he’ll be a great value. The Giants drafted Weston Richburg in the second round and if it weren’t for injuries, he could have been their long-term center. Daniels could push Brett Jones for playing time early and could also play guard if needed.

9. Malik Jefferson, LB, Texas

Big Blue needs linebackers for their new 3-4 defense and Malik Jefferson could fit in nicely with James Bettcher. Jefferson is a great athlete who can make plays all over the field. He just needs some coaching to turn his athletic gifts into production at linebacker. Bettcher could be the coach to get the most out of Jefferson and his speed would be utilized in Bettcher’s blitz-happy scheme.

10. Harrison Phillips, DL, Stanford

Like Maurice Hurst, Harrison Phillips could provide the Giants with a three-technique next to Damon Harrison and Dalvin Tomlinson. The former wrestler excels at getting off blocks and can be disruptive against the run and the pass. He’s a strong defender who was very productive in college.
