New York Jets: Final mock draft of 2018
Round Four: Nyheim Hines, RB, N.C. State
The other reason I passed on Chubb in the previous round was my hunch that Nyheim Hines would be available here in round four. When he was he was my quick choice. After selecting a tackle in the previous round it was important to bring the rookie quarterback more help. There is no better friend to a young quarterback than a good running game.
Bilal Powell is hitting the magic age of 30. Elijah McGuire was a change of pace player last year. The names Isaiah Crowell and Thomas Rawls don’t spark fear in the hearts of many. Matt Forte has hung up his cleats so another young running back would be a huge help, at the very least to provide competition.

The exciting part is Hines’ ability to make plays on the ground and in the passing game. Ironically it’s the role that Matt Forte was supposed to play but was too old to be as effective in as in years past. Scoring 12 times as a member of the Wolfpack in his final season is a huge number, no matter what the level of competition was. He’s explosive, with a 5.4 yards per carry average in school.
His 4.38 time in the forty yard dash is elite. He may be under 200 pounds but that doesn’t mean he can’t play in this league. Warrick Dunn was only 187 pounds and stood at 5-8. You don’t have to be huge to be successful at the position. Hines has an excellent chance to be a sleeper in the mid rounds of this draft.
