Round One: Josh Rosen, QB, UCLA

More from Empire Writes Back

For anyone that follows me on this website or anywhere else, this pick should come as no surprise. Josh Rosen has been my choice since day one and he continues to be my choice. Rosen is going to make a great NFL player and it needs to happen while he is wearing the green and white.

There are plenty of good arguments for Baker Mayfield, and the fan base shouldn’t be disappointed if he was the pick. He’s an excellent leader and finds a way to get things done. Mayfield isn’t the ideal size but he is able to make plays. His personality has won the day for Jets fans everywhere.

However, Rosen is simply the purest passer in the draft. We have all seen enough video, his footwork and throwing motion could step into the league and play tomorrow. Rosen has played both under center and in the shotgun so he has seen a lot of what he needs to in order to be NFL ready.

He too has the demeanor to handle the big stage. He simply wants to be the best, and that will excite Jets fans all over the place. On the field, he is the type of passer that, despite his injuries, will be a player to lead this team for the next decade or so.
