2018 NFL Mock Draft: Final New York Giants Mock Draft
By Sean Dyer
Draft day is finally here so it’s time to put together one final New York Giants NFL mock draft!
The day we’ve all been waiting for is finally here! At 8:00 p.m. ET, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will announce that the Cleveland Browns are on the clock and the 2018 NFL Draft will commence. As soon as the Browns submit their draft card, the New York Giants will be on the clock!
General manager Dave Gettleman has been sitting in the driver’s seat for quite some time with the Browns likely taking one of the top quarterbacks. Very few scouts have a QB at the top of their big boards, meaning the Giants will have their choice of any of the top prospects. Gettleman’s phone will also be busy with quarterback-needy teams looking to move up and draft their future franchise quarterback.
Big Blue could draft a future franchise quarterback of their own with Eli Manning likely on the back nine of his career, or they could trust Davis Webb and look at other areas of need. The Giants could use a feature running back to carry the ball 20+ times per game, they could use a big-bodied wide receiver to replace the recently released Brandon Marshall, and New York’s offensive line has been a big area of need for years.
As the Giants transition to a 3-4 defense, their front seven personnel needs some adjusting. They could use more linebackers, edge rushers, and interior defensive linemen. After releasing Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Big Blue could also use some depth at cornerback.
New York’s draft could go a number of ways. They have options at No. 2 and they may not even stay there. They don’t have sixth or seventh-round picks due to trades for Alec Ogletree and Ross Cockrell, but they do have an extra third-round pick after trading Jason Pierre-Paul to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
As hard as it is to predict the NFL Draft, let’s give it a shot! Here’s my final New York Giants mock draft!
