Week 5

After a brutal start to the season, Dave Gettleman gets his boys pumped up to play against his former team.

When it comes to Carolina’s offense, containing Cam Newton and Christian McCaffrey is the key. Alec Ogletree and Landon Collins will likely be tasked with doing the containing and they are the two best men for the job. Outside of Janoris Jenkins, the Giants cornerback depth is questionable, however, behind Devin Funchess, the same can be said about the Panthers wide receivers. Big Blue will also have to shut down tight end Greg Olsen, a position they really struggled with last season. The addition of Ogletree should help in that department.

The Panthers couldn’t contain Odell Beckham Jr. when they had Josh Norman and they certainly can’t do it now. James Bradberry is a talented young corner, but OBJ is OBJ. After losing Daryl Worley, Kurt Coleman, Star Lotulelei, and Charles Johnson, Carolina’s defense has some holes to fill. They’ll likely address a few in the NFL Draft, but right now, I like New York’s matchup on offense.

If the Giants can limit Carolina’s weapons, they should be able to put up enough points to secure their first win of the season.
