The vibe in Queens surrounding the Blue and Orange is overwhelmingly positive right now. The free agent signings are producing and the revived pitching staff is living up to its immense potential.

There are some question marks and things about the New York Mets that could fall under pro or con. Which one each falls under is not concrete yet.

For example, the use of the bullpen. The Mets starting pitchers are striking out a lot of batters and not giving up a lot of runs but they are not exactly going deep into games. The bullpen has been stellar so far but if overworked, it could flounder later in the season. The starters need to learn how to go deeper into games.

But using a deeper bullpen is becoming sort of a revolution in baseball and the Mets could just be ahead of the learning curve there.

Only lady time knows how the New York Mets will fare for the rest of 2018, but right now it looks very solid. The difference Mickey Callaway has made to this team is already the most apparent change.
