Comparing this team to last year’s is not exactly black and white on paper but in terms of effort and charisma, this 2018 team so far blows last year’s out of the water.

I’ll say the 2017 New York Mets was an outlier of a season for the current Mets regime until proven otherwise. But, already this year the Mets’ effort and clutchness is unmatched by anything I have ever seen.

Playing until the last out will not be the biggest reason why/if this team succeeds. But a lack of it can definitely be a reason they fail. So far, the New York Mets play hard on each and every strike and play like they can win until that final out.

Mickey Callaway can be to thank for this one. But this is something that if the Mets continue to do all season, they will be in great shape and no matter what, fun to watch.

Coming from behind to win games, holding on to narrow leads to win games, doing whatever it takes to win games. That is what the New York Mets have done so far. It is imperative they keep doing so.

The effort is an asset that will not only help this team win but could carry them further than other teams that might otherwise be better than the Mets in terms of talent and on paper.
