This is probably the most obvious take on the Mets’ hot start but it is also the biggest con so it must be addressed. The New York Mets head into the second game of their series in Miami with only one loss but they have only played 9 games.

Yes, there are probably more positive things going on in Flushing Meadows than negative things. But all of that can be for nothing if the New York Mets do not keep up this pace.

Keeping up with this pace is way easier said than done because there are over 150 games left to play. This stretch is awesome and has been a blast to watch, but is such a microscopic part of the season.

To make it even worse, the importance of these wins will not be exposed until later in the season when it is time to see who will win the division. No wins in March or April mean anything tangible until the pennant race is close in September.

If the Mets win the NL East by just two games then we can look back at the sweep of the Nats in April. But it is not until then that this all really matters.

For that, there is nothing wrong with still taking it with a grain of salt and wanting to see more.
