OK, those of you that read my work know that this isn’t my ultimate scenario. My personal preference would be Josh Rosen for anyone who isn’t aware. However, in this scenario Rosen is chosen by the Browns in a surprise decision, followed by Josh Allen at number two. This was also a surprise.

Personally I am not as high on Sam Darnold as the rest of the world is, I felt he needed more time in college to be honest, making Baker Mayfield was the choice. Mayfield is not a bad choice, and one reason Jets fans will like him is that he is a winner. Despite the fact that he is undersized, and may not be as naturally skilled as a Darnold, a Rosen, or even a Darnold, he figures out how to win.

His offense in college used similar concepts to the West Coast offense which makes him a solid fit with the Jets. Jeremy Bates is likely to continue much of the offense of his predecessor and that bodes well for Baker. With a completion percentage of at least 68% over his final two seasons, we certainly have a guy that is accurate.

He also has a personality that is a good mix for New York. He probably shouldn’t grab his crotch again any time soon, but the fact that he doesn’t shy away from the big stage will help. Jets fans should grow to like this guy.
