2. Quarterback

Yes, Eli Manning is under contract for another two years, but that doesn’t mean he has two years of quality football left in him. He might, but the New York Giants can’t be sure. They also have Davis Webb but with zero NFL snaps under his belt, he’s even more of an unknown than Manning.

The Giants shouldn’t be drafting a quarterback just for the sake of drafting one. They need to love one of the top prospects and be confident that he can be Manning’s successor. If they few Webb anywhere near as talented as the top quarterbacks in this year’s class, they should wait until next year to draft Eli’s heir apparent.

The top argument for the Giants drafting their quarterback of the future this year is that they are picking No. 2 overall (a great spot to draft a future franchise quarterback) and they don’t plan to be picking that high again for the foreseeable future.

The first round is really the only spot for Big Blue to draft a quarterback. Ideally, they would take one No. 2 overall, but if they make a trade with the Buffalo Bills, there would be an outside chance that there is a potential franchise quarterback worth drafting at No. 12 overall.

Prospects to watch: Sam Darnold (USC), Josh Rosen (UCLA), Baker Mayfield (Oklahoma), Josh Allen (Wyoming), Lamar Jackson (Louisville), Mason Rudolph (Oklahoma State)
