New York Mets: 2018 Season preview, predictions, and more
Let us get you ready for the New York Mets season with an all-in 2018 season preview!
In 2017, the New York Mets suffered a rather forgettable fate. After being bombarded by injuries, trading fan favorite veterans for ambiguous prospects, and firing then longest tenured manager Terry Collins, 2018 seems destined to be less of a train wreck.
It’ll be difficult to do much worse than last season. That in itself is a reason to believe 2018 can be the year the Mets return to the playoffs or at least improve off last year’s campaign.
New York hit a terrible dry spell in Spring Training but it is sometimes best off to focus on the reps of the players and how the key players looked rather than the results of the games.
This spring training consisted of the return of Noah Syndergaard, TebowMania, and the adaptation of Mickey Callaway calling the shots of a major league team.
But what does the upcoming regular season hold? Aside from the Mets playing games at the historic Fenway Park and their yearly meetings with the new look, lowly Marlins, 2018 will be a year of things being executed perfectly.
Some of the biggest stories heading into this season include:
- Mickey Callaway’s first season as a manager
- The Matt Harvey Project
- Can they stay healthy?
- Will they make the playoffs for the third time in four years for the first time ever?
- The emergence of Amed Rosario/regression of Dom Smith
Here is the preview. We will start with the pitching!
