Pick Analysis. Ohio State. 57. player. Scouting Report. CB. Denzel Ward. 8

The Chicago Bears spent most of this offseason adding weapons for Mitchell Trubisky and the offense. They signed wide receivers Allen Robinson and Taylor Gabriel and tight end Trey Burton to significant free agent deals.

The Bears also matched the Green Bay Packers’ offer sheet to retain Kyle Fuller and re-signed Prince Amukamara, however, they could still stand to add another cornerback.

The top cornerback prospect in this year’s class is Denzel Ward. Ward is a great cover corner with elite footwork. The one negative for Ward is his size. At 5’10, 191 lb. Ward may be better suited as a nickel corner at the next level.

This works just fine for Chicago. They can keep Fuller and Amukamara outside with Ward inside at the slot to create a talented young cornerback trio. All three corners would be first-round picks. Add in Adrian Amos and Eddie Jackson at safety and the Bears would have a very solid secondary.

Chicago is headed in the right direction. They have their franchise quarterback in Trubisky. He now has weapons in Robinson, Gabriel, and Burton. Their offensive line is respectable. They have a good pass rusher in Leonard Floyd. If they can complete their secondary, the Bears could be in for a bounce-back season in 2018.
