Scouting Report. DE. NC State. Bradley Chubb. 6. Pick Analysis. player. 46

If the Indianapolis Colts stayed at No. 3, they likely would have picked Bradley Chubb. They’re able to pick up three extra second-round picks in their trade with the New York Jets and still get their man at No. 6.

The Colts have a handful of needs and sat out the first wave of free agency, avoiding handing out exorbitant contracts. General manager Chris Ballard has added some solid pieces so far in the second wave but a big-time edge rusher is key as they transition to a 4-3 defense.

Chubb is arguably the best defender in this year’s class and hands down the best pass rusher. He possesses a high motor and athleticism that make him a handful for opposing blockers. He’ll be an immediate starter and impact player for Indy.

Quenton Nelson was a serious consideration here as the Colts need to protect Andrew Luck but after signing Matt Slauson and bringing back Jack Mewhort, the interior of the offensive line is in solid shape.

Because of their many needs, trading back again also could be a consideration for the Colts but they’ll be happy to land such a talented edge rusher in Chubb with the sixth overall pick.
