Picks 19-22

DT. Alabama. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Da'Ron Payne. 19. 123

The Dallas Cowboys could consider a wide receiver here but I didn’t the value this early with Calvin Ridley off the board. Dallas could also add a linebacker after Anthony Hitchens left in free agency and Sean Lee has never-ending injury concerns.

The Cowboys need help along their defensive line and Da’Ron Payne is one of the most talented in the class. Payne is a fantastic run stuffer but also has the potential to be an above average pass rusher. Putting Payne next to David Irving with Demarcus Lawrence and Taco Charlton on the edge would solidify Dallas’s defensive line. They would then just have to worry about signing Lawrence to a long-term deal.

LSU. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. RB. Derrius Guice. 20. 50

The Detroit Lions need to bring balance to their offense. Matthew Stafford is great and can really sling it but there are certain games where it looks like his arm is going to fall off. The Lions need to improve their running game.

Ameer Abdullah has been decent but doesn’t seem to be the future for Detroit like he was once thought to be. They did bring in LeGarrette Blount in free agency but that was a one-year deal and he’s proven to be a stop-gap option over his career.

Adding Derrius Guice could be just what Detroit needs. Although there’s an 18 pick gap in this mock draft, the gap between Saquon Barkley and Guice isn’t that big. Guice is also a complete back who will make an immediate impact. He could bring balance to the Lions and get them into the playoffs.

56. Scouting Report. OL. Isaiah Wynn. Georgia. 21. player. Pick Analysis

The Cincinnati Bengals moved back in the draft in order to acquire Cordy Glenn. That fixes one tackle spot (if Glenn can stay healthy) but the other is still up in the air. Neither Jake Fisher or Cedric Ogbuehi has been what Cincinnati expected. The Bengals are also still looking to replace Kevin Zeitler at guard.

Isaiah Wynn is a great fit for the Bengals because of his versatility. Wynn was the left tackle for Georgia but a lack of size has scouts projecting him to move to guard. The Bengals could have Wynn start at guard, finally replacing Zeitler, and if neither Fisher or Ogbuehi can handle right tackle, or if Glenn gets hurt, Wynn could kick out to tackle.

Pick Analysis. UCF. Mike Hughes. player. Scouting Report. CB. 22. 16

After securing their franchise quarterback, the Buffalo Bills turn their attention to the defense. Buffalo had one of the better defenses last year, especially when it came to forcing turnovers.

Last year’s first-round pick Tre’Davious White is locked in as a No. 1 corner for the foreseeable future and Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer proved to be a solid safety tandem. The Bills did sign Vontae Davis but for just one year and with EJ Gaines still a free agent, Buffalo could add another corner.

Mike Hughes is a playmaker on defense and special teams. He was one of the most dangerous return men in the country last year and is also a solid cover corner. I think the Bills should re-sign Gaines, but until they do, Hughes would be a good addition.
