Sammy Watkins

This is a guy that always seemed scary between his speed and his frame. The Jets have actually held him in check during his career so far, holding him to a pedestrian 65.5 yards per game. That doesn’t change the fact that he is a talented player and one that should be in high demand by lots of teams including the Jets.

Robby Anderson is the downfield threat the Jets currently employ, but at this point we might find Anderson off of the team or missing games at a minimum thanks to his behavior. Watkins has averaged 15.9 yards per catch for his career. When healthy he is a lethal weapon. He has the ability to take over games.

He had a big year with Buffalo back in 2015 with 60 receptions, 1047 yards and nine touchdowns. Even more intriguing is the season he put in last year. He posted his second best total with eight touchdowns on only 39 receptions. His 593 yards were in a year that he disappeared for weeks at a time. His game logs reflect multiple weeks with only one reception and yardage under 40 yards. He wouldn’t be forgotten that often in New York.

Spotrac sets his market value at $5.9 million per season. That is more than reasonable for a player of Watkins caliber.
