Orleans Darkwa

As a Jets fan I have a genetic predisposition to dislike the Giants players. However it was very difficult to dislike Orleans Darkwa.

More from Empire Writes Back

The Jets will be in the market for a running back. Matt Forte has retired. I have made the case for Bilal Powell to be the every down back but the team isn’t listening to me. Despite my cries, Powell will be the change of pace back while the Jets fill the position of the starting running back.

They had trouble running the football last season as we all saw. Other than when Powell and Elijah McGuire exploded against Jacksonville, the team on a whole did nothing. 19th in the league is simply not good enough.

Darkwa performed very well for the Giants last season. He ran for 751 yards and five touchdowns, posting a 4.4 yards per carry average. Each of those numbers were career highs. He also added 19 receptions out of the backfield, another career mark.

Normally that wouldn’t sound like much as Giants football has been forever associated with a good ground game. However, this Giants team only won two games and Darkwa still managed to put up all of these highs. He is a talented player that would be a cheap but valuable addition to the other team in town.
