Josey Jewell. Scouting Report. LB. Iowa. 2. player. 16. Pick Analysis

The Bills do not have a pressing need at linebacker. This draft is more line and secondary rich anyway. Therefore, I think the Bills would be smart to save this position until later in the second round.

Ramon Humber’s future with the Bills is up in the air as no one really knows the fate of the pending free agent. More or less the same for Preston Brown.

The only certainty is Matt Milano, who had a promising rookie campaign and was all over the field.

He is going to need a complement and Josey Jewell is one who the Bills can go get. His size is not ideal but his hard work ethic is what the coaching staff will be looking for.

Jewell has a good chance of buying into “the process” and being grateful for the opportunity. He will be a smart linebacker and will play well with Matt Milano who is a similar player.

I have him going higher than most people might think. But the odd fit with Buffalo is something to remember. If the Bills have been keeping their eye on him he would be a risky pick but potentially with a high reward.

Going with a linebacker lowers the number of needs heading into training camp. Bigger linebackers might be on the board but Jewell’s ability to adjust to whatever role the Bills will use him for is ideal.

The Bills no longer need a cornerback after signing Vontae Davis. Defensive tackle and linebacker are bigger needs these rounds.
