Pick Analysis. WR . player. Scouting Report. Oklahoma State. James Washington . 1. 16

It makes sense for the Bills to get a top-notch wide receiver. Sammy Watkins did not work out. Zay Jones has potential but the Bills should try for a really solid wide receiver.

I know that wide receiver is not the top need. It can also be argued James Washington is not even the top wide receiver in this draft. But assuming Calvin Ridley will be drafted a little before the Bills pick, Washington is the guy.

Reuniting Ridley with the Bills’ new offensive coordinator Brian Daboll makes sense for both parties, but Ridley will definitely go earlier.

Getting Washington would not be a bad contingency plan. The wideout from Oklahoma State is talented. Washington was able to form immense chemistry with fellow draft prospect Mason Rudolph.

The Bills need an upgrade at wide receiver. Having someone who played many seasons in college can help.

The number one thing about Washington that is good for the Bills is his ability to make long plays. He may not be crazy elusive like Stevie Johnson but he can go get the long ball.

The Bills’ offense struggled mightily with long plays last season and Washington is a much-needed upgrade.

Washington played against some pretty awful defenses in the Big 12 but his speed and desire for the long ball are worth drafting this early.
