There’s no better time of the year than NFL mock draft season! Let’s take a look at how the first three rounds could play out for the New York Jets.

When and where will the New York Jets find their next franchise quarterback? That is the biggest question surrounding the Jets this offseason and it is addressed in just about every NFL mock draft.

Sign Kirk Cousins? Draft Baker Mayfield or Josh Allen? Trade up and draft Sam Darnold or Josh Rosen? There are plenty of options but the Jets have to figure out which quarterback is right for their future and pull the trigger.

In this mock draft, we are going to assume the Jets use a chunk of their $91 million in cap space to sign a quarterback. Whether that’s Cousins, Case Keenum, Teddy Bridgewater, or someone else, the Jets will enter the 2018 NFL Draft with a new signal caller under contract.

With quarterback figured out, New York will look to surround him with weapons and improve a defense that already has a few promising young players. The Jets’ remaining needs would include offensive line, defensive end, outside linebacker, and cornerback.

The recent release of Muhammad Wilkerson certainly makes defensive end more of an immediate need, although cutting Wilkerson has been anticipated for months.

Cornerback could also become less of a need in free agency if the Jets re-sign Morris Claiborne or lock up Malcolm Butler, who they are rumored to be planning on pursuing.

With the No. 6 overall pick in the first round and two second-round picks, thanks to the Sheldon Richardson trade, the New York Jets will have plenty of opportunities to add talent in the draft.

Mike Maccagnan needs to have a successful 2018 NFL Draft. Let’s see how he could approach his most important draft yet.
