Scenario 4: Trade back in the draft with BUF, get aggressive in FA

Again, the New York Giants could pull off a blockbuster trade including the No. 2 pick in the draft, Buffalo’s two first-rounders, and Cordy Glenn.

If Glenn restructures his contract to fit Big Blue’s budget, he could get back to being one of the better left tackles in the league.

All of this Andrew Norwell talk makes it seem like Justin Pugh is good as gone. Although the Giants want to make Norwell the game’s highest-paid guard, there are a handful of teams who have more cap space and could outbid New York. In such a case, Big Blue could turn to their old friend Pugh.

When healthy, Pugh is one of the better guards in the NFL and also has the versatility to play right tackle. Because of his injury history, which includes a back injury that forced him to miss eight games in 2018, Pugh could be looking to sign a one-year prove-it deal to reset his market. The Giants made a similar deal with Jason Pierre-Paul a few years ago which worked out for both sides.

Yep, Brett Jones is back at center.

While there is a good chance one of the top three offensive tackle prospects will be available after trading back to pick No. 21, that’s not a guarantee. If the top tackles are gone, Big Blue can draft one of the top interior linemen in Billy Price. Price can play both guard and center and trails just Quenton Nelson on big boards.

The Giants aren’t done after signing Pugh. They open their checkbooks back up to sign Cameron Fleming to play right tackle. Fleming has been a reserve the past four years in New England but has 20 career starts under his belt. At just 25 years old, Fleming has plenty of good football left and is one of the best offensive tackles in a thin free agent market.
