Round Two: Rasheem Green

For the second of two picks in the second round, the choice is Rasheem Green:

"Green has a quick first step and the strength to overpower blockers. He also has a rip, swim, and bull rush moves when rushing the passer. The problem is, Green is still working on how and when to use his pass rush moves and he also has to work on his pad level. When Green gets too high coming out of his stance, he exposes his large frame to blockers and they’re able to get their hands on him."

I am not sure it’s a gaping hole that Muhammad Wilkerson leaves in his wake when he is inevitably cut, but it’s a hole. Wilkerson was a guy that was supposed to be a mainstay of the Jets defensive line for many years to come. Unfortunately, he became another in a long list of players that earned the big contract and fell apart. He even became a problem off the field with his issues regarding meetings, so out the door he goes.

According to Lance Zierlein this pick would be right on value, even a bit of a bargain. He projects Green to be a round 1-2 selection. I’ll let you take a look at the tape. Here is footage from a game last season:

Next: Reigning in the Baker Mayfield hysteria

This is a talented player and my followers know how I feel about having depth on the defensive line. A team can never have enough. This is also a very raw player that probably could have used another year in school. When you look at the tape you see a player that may have difficulty with NFL linemen out of the gate. He needs to get lower and use his hands better, as a start.

This one might even be a slight overreach, as based on the talent he seems more like a day three prospect to me. If he were to come late on day two it would be acceptable. Just don’t expect a big role for him in year one, he will have to work his way into the rotation.
