Playoffs?

Hockey is all about Lord Stanley. It is crystal clear this is not an Islanders team that has the resources to go very far but crazy things happen in this sport and as down as the Isles are they are not officially out.

I have been watching hockey for a long time. It is obvious what a Stanley Cup team does well. They goal tend well, shoot a lot, and show immense resilience. Amongst other things.

The New York Islanders have or do none of those things. But sometimes, teams do things their own way.

The Isles seem to have no idea what they are doing. It has been that way for a LONG time now.

However, 61 games have been played. They are just one point out. Despite a shameful goal differential on an elite offensive team somehow, they also somehow find themselves right in the thick of things.

Although it is not likely, these last 21 games the Isles can squeak into a playoff spot.

A first round exit will probably follow but it is still ideal to make it.

Lets see how the year plays out. All else aside it takes striking lightning in a bottle. Plenty of time to do that.
