Pick Analysis. OT. UCLA. 2. Scouting Report. Kolton Miller. player. 30

If the New York Jets are going to sign Kirk Cousins, they better protect him. He’s going to cost a ton of money and Gang Green needs to protect their investment.

No one on the Jets offensive line played particularly great in 2017. Kelvin Beachum was decent and Brian Winters has $7 million guaranteed for 2018, so those two aren’t going anywhere. The other three positions could use improvement.

Kolton Miller is a perfect offensive tackle prospect for the Jets. Miller could step in at right tackle as a rookie with the potential to move to left tackle down the line. Beachum will get another shot at left tackle in 2018 but New York could move on after next season. If Miller really impresses, Beachum could even move to the right side in 2018.

Miller’s size, length, and foot quickness have moved him up draft boards of late but he could be around when the Jets pick at No. 37.

Jon Dove of With the First Pick sees a fast-rising prospect who can protect the passer:

"Overall, Miller’s combination of length and athleticism makes him a very strong prospect. He is someone who can protect the quarterback which is something NFL coaches covet. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see his stock rise as we work through the process."

Although gaining and maintaining leverage can be a struggle for the 6’8, 310 lb. lineman, Miller uses good technique and a wide base to succeed in pass protection. If he’s able to add more upper body strength, Miller could become impossible for pass rushers to get past.
