Round One: Josh Rosen, QB, UCLA

More from Empire Writes Back

This player needs no introduction with this fan base. Therefore, we will start with some thoughts from Sean:

"Rosen can really spin the football. He throws a tight spiral that he can fit into tight windows. He has the arm strength to make any throw in the NFL and throws a beautiful deep ball. Rosen has good ball placement and can throw receivers open. From an arm talent standpoint, there’s not much Rosen can’t do."

Keep in mind that in Dyer’s mock, Kirk Cousins goes to Denver. With that, the Jets make a trade with their friends in blue, the New York Giants, to move up and take the 2nd pick. He predicts an aggressive Mike Maccagnan in this draft.

If the scenario plays out this way, including the Cousins situation, it’s not good. IT’S PERFECT! There would be a significant rise in dancing in the streets if the Jets make this selection. Many fans are into Baker Mayfield, granted, but Rosen is simply a better pocket passer. Running ability is nice, but neither Peyton Manning nor Tom Brady made their legend status based upon their feet.

Rosen runs a pro-style offense with the ability to play from under center or shotgun. His mechanics are flawless and he throws with pinpoint accuracy. He takes his teammates along for the ride, coaxing them into playing at his level rather than dropping down.

This is a pick that would make most fans very happy. If I could add a dancing emoji here I would.
