2018 NFL Mock Draft: New York Jets 3-round mock 4.0
By Sean Dyer
Josh Rosen is widely considered the most pro-ready quarterback in this year’s class. Why wouldn’t the Cleveland Browns take him No. 1 overall? Well, he doesn’t exactly want to play for the Browns.
Rosen hasn’t given his opinion on the New York Jets yet, mostly because few expect him to be available at No. 6. But if the Jets move up, they’ll have an opportunity to make Rosen their franchise quarterback.
Rosen can really spin the football. He throws a tight spiral that he can fit into tight windows. He has the arm strength to make any throw in the NFL and throws a beautiful deep ball. Rosen has good ball placement and can throw receivers open. From an arm talent standpoint, there’s not much Rosen can’t do.
The concerns with Rosen are his injury history (he missed half of his sophomore season with a shoulder injury, had a hand injury, as well as a concussion), his questionable leadership skills, and his tendency to rub people the wrong way.
Rosen’s positives far outweigh the negatives and WalterFootball.com believes he’s a franchise quarterback in the NFL:
"In the 2018 NFL Draft, Rosen is a sure-fire top-five pick. Some league sources have told me that they would put Rosen among the few truly elite prospects in this draft class. If Rosen stays healthy and lands in a quality situation with talent around him on the field and the sideline, he should become a franchise quarterback in the NFL."
The New York Jets need a franchise quarterback in the worst way and Josh Rosen is the most talented one in this year’s class. The Jets may love Josh Allen, but his accuracy issues are too historically scary to sit back and take him with the No. 6 pick.
Moving up to No. 2 to get Rosen is the right move. The Jets need to be aggressive this offseason, especially when it comes to finding their franchise quarterback. If throwing huge dollar amounts at Kirk Cousins doesn’t work, their Plan B should be trading up to draft Josh Rosen.
