31. OT. Texas. 1. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Connor Williams

The New York Giants NEED to fix their offensive line. Strong offensive line play is what helped lead them to their last two Super Bowl championships. Poor offensive line play is what has held them back over the last few seasons.

The Ereck Flowers experiment at left tackle has run its course and it’s time for Big Blue to find a new blindside protector.

Enter Connor Williams.

Williams is widely considered one of the top three offensive tackle prospect in this year’s class along with Mike McGlinchey and Orlando Brown, and many consider Williams to be the best.

Williams has a good combination of size and athleticism. He shows good flexibility and knee bend in pass protection. He also has a mean streak, playing through the whistle and occasionally playing past it.

Brady Lunt of NFL Mocks see Williams as a plug-and-play tackle in the NFL:

"Throughout his collegiate career, Williams has made his responsibilities as a starting left tackle appear easy and effortless. He has the talent and traits to be a day one starter in the NFL. He is one of the top offensive linemen in this class and may likely be one of the first tackles taken in the 2018 NFL Draft. A team looking for someone to take over the left side of their O-line would be wise to target him. He projects to be drafted somewhere in the first 20 picks."

“A team looking for someone to take over the left side of their O-line” sure sounds like the New York Giants.

Williams could take over for Flowers at left tackle and Big Blue can get back to having big, aggressive linemen. Adding Williams and re-signing D.J. Fluker will give the Giants a nastiness they’ve lacked over the past few seasons.

Being able to add arguably the top offensive tackle in the draft while trading back and adding extra picks is a huge win for Dave Gettleman and the Giants.
