Bold Move No. 2 – Trade Back Again!

Oh man, I know your heart just dropped, like what is Justin talking about? Hear me out and stay with me.

The Giants need to be unconventional this year. That doesn’t mean throwing the baby out with the bath water but it does mean bringing a new dynamic to a team that has grown stale during the offseason and afraid to make moves to get top-level talent.

The Buffalo Bills need a QB and they want a pocket passer they can develop. With Sam Darnold and Josh Rosen off the board, teams still have their choice between Baker Mayfield and Josh Allen. The Bills wager the future to come up to No. 6 and get Baker Mayfield and the Giants should be happy to steal a treasure trove of their picks for the next move. With the Bills sitting in the 20’s, they need to make up ground with more picks.

The Giants send the Bills the No. 6 overall pick and their seventh-round pick.

The Bills send the Giants the No. 21 and 22 overall picks, their second-round pick, their fifth-round pick, and a future sixth-round pick in 2019.

The Giants happily accept and the Bills get their QB of the future and the ability to add defensive depth in round three and four, without mortgaging away their future in the coming years.

The Giants now sit with an arsenal of picks to make more moves and find the best possible choices.

The Giants 2018 picks after these two bold moves:

First round: No. 21 and 22

Second round: No. 34 and 37 (from Jets) and No. 53 (from Bills)

Third round: No. 66

Fourth round: No. 98 and 103 (from Jets)

Fifth round: No. 149 (from Bills)

Sixth round: No. 162

With ten picks this year and additional first and sixth round picks in 2019, the New York Giants can make one more move before they start to dig for their future diamonds.
