2018 NFL Mock Draft: New York Giants 3-round mock 3.0
By Sean Dyer
If the New York Giants add Saquon Barkley to their staple of offensive weapons, they will be a solid offensive line away from putting up big-time numbers.
Isaiah Wynn is a versatile lineman (Big Blue’s favorite kind of lineman) who has experience at both guard and tackle.
The Giants could be looking for new tackles on both ends after Ereck Flowers disappointed on and off the field in 2017 and Bobby Hart was cut. They could also be looking for new guards with Justin Pugh and D.J. Fluker set for free agency.
Wynn excels as a run blocker, constantly delivering the first blow off the line of scrimmage and is athletic enough to make blocks at the second level. He also uses strong hands and quick feet to overcome his lack of length in pass protection.
Wynn may not have the ideal length to play tackle in the NFL but if he can build up his lower body and consistently anchor against pass rushers, he could hold his own. He could start his career at guard before kicking out to tackle, similar to what the Miami Dolphins did with Laremy Tunsil.
Our friend Jon Dove over at With the First Pick thinks Wynn could succeed at either position in the NFL:
"Isaiah Wynn is one of the more underrated 2018 NFL Draft prospects. He’s an offensive lineman who has experience facing top level competition at both the guard and left tackle position. Wynn has shown enough talent to potential play either position at the next level."
Watching Wynn on tape may not blow you away but as Dove puts it, he is “someone who gets the job done.”
Giants fans aren’t looking for “pretty” offensive linemen. As long as they can keep Manning protected and open up holes in the running game, sign them up! Wynn is a great value here in round two and could help Big Blue finally stop worrying about the offensive line.
