David Bass

FINAL STATS (W/JETS): 23 TACKLES, 15 SOLO, 3.5 SACKS

Here is a player that was signed just in September, two days after he was released by the Seattle Seahawks. He wasn’t a frequent starter but he was brought in to be part of the rotation and be a presence on the outside for the Gang Green. As I have said in the past you can never have too many able-bodied players in the defensive rotation, especially when it’s time to close out games.

Bass had a big game in the win over the AFC runner-up Jaguars, posting six tackles, three solo and one sack. The sack was his second in as many weeks. He even put one up against Tom Brady in the season finale up in New England. That’s not too bad, taking down the two quarterbacks that played in the AFC title game. This is a player that can be brought back on the cheap, and the Jets should absolutely do so.

Overall, Bass a good season as a player signed during the year. He is a guy that should figure into the mix in 2018. He obviously can make a difference off of the edge. He may not be a starter, but he could be a situational player that can make a big play when the team needs one late in a game to close it out.
