XFL Returns: Former New York Giants we would love to see in the XFL
By Sean Dyer
Hakeem Nicks
What once looked like a promising NFL career was ruined by nagging injuries. Hakeem Nicks never played a full 16-game season during his Giants career but when he was healthy, Nicks was one of the better wide receivers in the league.
The New York Giants first-round pick in 2009, Nicks played 14 games as a rookie (six starts) and had 790 yards and six touchdowns. He followed that up with his best two seasons. In 2010, Nicks had 1,052 yards and 11 touchdowns (despite only playing in 13 games) and in 2011, he had 1,192 yards and seven touchdowns (15 games).
Nicks never came close to putting up that kind of production again. He played for the Indianapolis Colts for a year before returning to the Giants in 2015 but retired after that season.
There was so much talent when it came to Nicks. He was supposed to be the No. 1 receiver for Big Blue for years.
He faded into NFL irrelevancy but could put up some decent numbers in the XFL. Nicks also tried to make the New Orleans Saints in 2016 so he’s not too far removed from his playing days.
Nicks could possibly display the talent Giants fans saw in 2010 and 2011 if given the chance to play in the XFL.
