Round 7, Pick 225: David Bass, Defensive End, Missouri Western State

Original Pick: Eric Herman, Offensive Tackle, Ohio

You’d think that Reese would have learned his lesson about selecting project offensive linemen late in the draft, but apparently he didn’t and picking Eric Herman would absolutely blow up in his face. Spending most of his time on the practice squad, Herman never saw a single down in the NFL and was ultimately waived before the 2015 season began.

To be fair to Reese, it’s hard finding talent late in the draft and there really wasn’t a home run pick to be found at this point in the seventh round. However, the Giants could have picked a solid rotational defensive lineman in David Bass. Bass only has a few career starts under his belt, but he’s one of the few players drafted in the seventh round that are still active today and he would have been a good contributor on the vaunted defensive line the Giants had at the time.
