New York Giants: 5 Jerry Reese era players Dave Gettleman shouldn’t even bother with

If Ereck Flowers’s attitude was an issue, Eli Apple’s is a problem.
Apple had family issues this past season but he allowed those off-field issues to poison the Giants locker room.
Apple only played in 11 games in 2017, including just seven starts, and was suspended for the season finale due to conduct detrimental to the team.
When it comes to on-field play, Apple has had an up and down career and has shown the potential of living up to his tenth overall selection. But when a teammate calls you a locker room cancer, that’s the kiss of death.
Dave Gettleman let Josh Norman walk after an All-Pro season with the Carolina Panthers so he likely won’t have an issue moving on from Eli Apple.
Apple was the tenth overall pick in 2016 but it seems in both parties’ best interest for him and the New York Giants to part ways.
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie may think that Apple and Landon Collins can “easily co-exist” next season, but that may be too big of a risk for Gettleman and the Giants to take.
Gettleman has given Apple a “clean slate”, but we’ll see how long that lasts. More social media drama, spats between teammates, or family issues this offseason, and Eli Apple’s time with Big Blue may run out.
