The New York Giants have a new general manager in Dave Gettleman. With change in the front office comes tough decisions on players from the previous regime.

Oh, what a time the Jerry Reese era was. Tabbed as a good talent evaluator, Reese’s draft classes were a mess with the New York Giants. Our own Mike Esposito has been revisiting Reese’s draft classes and they were borderline cringe-worthy.

Reese’s inability to put consistent winning teams on the field led to his firing and Dave Gettleman has taken over. Gettleman must now turn around a 3-13 team and try to bring Big Blue back to the playoffs.

When a front office undergoes change, the roster does the same. A head coaching change could bring even more turnover to the roster.

With Gettleman and Pat Shurmur taking over, certain players are on the fence when it comes to making the New York Giants roster.

There is certainly plenty of talent on the Giants roster, unlike most teams picking second overall, and those players will play key roles in 2018. Others, however, need a change of scenery. Those players aren’t worth Gettleman’s time.

Gettleman must go through the Giants roster and decide who to give another chance and who to let walk and have another team try to resurrect their career.

The New York Giants are not far off from contention but there are a handful of players who are just holding them back.

Here are five players from the Jerry Reese era who Dave Gettleman shouldn’t even bother with.
