Gleyber Torres

Can play: 2B, 3B, SS

2017 AAA stats: 23 games, .309/.406/.457, four doubles, one triple, two home runs, 16 RBI

2017 AA stats: 32 games, .273/.367/.496, 10 doubles, one triple, five home runs, 18 RBI

Now, the player that everyone was waiting for; Gleyber Torres.

More from New York Yankees

Torres, 21, is the No. 2 prospect in all of baseball. Following the Aroldis Chapman trade, Torres became the hot commodity in the Yankees system, and it looked like he would possibly be called up during the 2017 season, but he had to get Tommy John Surgery on his non-throwing elbow.

Now, Torres is ready to show the Yankees fan base who he is as a player and try to fight for the starting second base job. Multiple teams have asked for Torres in trade offers this offseason, but the Yankees were not willing to move him in a deal for a young, controllable starting pitcher.

Brian Cashman recently said that Torres may start the year in Triple-A, however, he may shine during spring training and show Cashman that he is ready for the majors.

Next: New York Yankees options after not getting Gerrit Cole

Now, who do I think makes the Opening Day lineup? Well, I see Miguel Andujar playing third base, which has been speculated following the Gerrit Cole trade. And at second base, I see Gleyber Torres starting. If Torres starts the year in Triple-A, it wouldn’t surprise me if Tyler Wade started at second base on Opening Day.
